Discipleship & Nurture

Jesus calls all believers to follow Him as His Disciples. At TMC, we seek to help each of us answer Jesus’ Call to Discipleship by offering the following platforms for learning and growing as His Disciples:aims to be lights that shine that all may see the good being done and glorify our Father in heaven.

BIBLE STUDY WORKSHOPS

These are workshops on different topics or books of the Bible. Each workshop consists of a few weekly 2-hour sessions, often on Saturday or Sunday afternoons, or on weekday nights.

The first D&N Bible Study Workshop for 2012 is How to Read and Understand the Bible Better?

What does "Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk" mean...and is it still relevant today? What does the Bible say about homosexuals? How can I find out about what the Bible says about how Christian girls should dress?

If you have these and other similar questions, come for this 2-session workshop which will help you read and understand the Bible better.

Date: Sundays, 25 Mar and 1 Apr 2012
Time: 2pm-4pm
Venue: Elijah Room, L2
Facilitator: Kwa Kiem Kiok

ADULT BIBLE CLASS (ABC)

This is a weekly Sunday adult bible class, from 10.15am-11.15am. It will run consecutively for a number of Sundays, skipping Communion Sundays (first Sunday of the month), according to a particular theme or topic of study. At the end of each series (usually about 8-10 Sundays), there will be a break before the next series commences.

The first ABC Series is on Laying the Foundations of Discipleship: Bitesize Theology.

This is a basic systematic introduction to the foundational doctrines of the Christian faith. It seeks to help each of us lay the foundation for knowing and understanding what we believe, and therefore strengthen and deepen our discipleship walk and growth in Jesus.

Whether you are a new believer, or you have been a Christian for many years, all are welcomed to join in this ABC on any Sunday for fellowship and study over the Word. We of course desire that you will come regularly for the entire series of study.

Date: Starting Sunday, 19 Feb for 10 Sundays through 20 May (skipping Communion Sundays of 4 March, 1 April and 6 May and Easter Sunday on 8 April)
Time: 10.15am-11.15am
Facilitator: Lim Choo Siang

IN-DEPTH BIBLE STUDY GROUPS (DISCIPLE GROUPS)

This is the in-depth DISCIPLE bible study program offered within Methodist Churches (including our TMC) for the past many years. DISCIPLE aims at developing disciples of Jesus, preparing each through small group prayer and disciplined study of the Bible within a nurturing fellowship of believers committed to helping each other grow.

Those new to DISCIPLE will start with a DISCIPLE I Group (BECOMING DISCIPLE THROUGH BIBLE STUDY), a 34-week study of the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. All participants in DISCIPLE I will read more than 70% of the Bible. The Scripture for each session follows the chronological movement of the biblical story. Each DISCIPLE I group will meet weekly with a leader over 2-2.5 hours, for a period of 34 weeks. Each participant makes a commitment to daily preparation (30-45minutes per day) and weekly attendance and active participation in the group study sessions.

Those who have already completed DISCIPLE I can join in any of the following: DISCIPLE II (INTO THE WORD INTO THE WORLD), or DISCIPLE III (REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE), or DISCIPLE IV (UNDER THE TREE OF LIFE).

DISCIPLE II provides an in-depth study of Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts; DISCIPLE III considers the Prophets and the Letters of Paul; and DISCIPLE IV focuses on Old Testament Writings, the Gospel of John, the Epistles of John, James and Jude, and Revelation. DISCIPLE II, III and IV are each of 32-week duration, and each seeks to stretch participants in their commitment and challenge them in their discipleship.

We now invite all interested to register for any of DISCIPLE I, II, III and IV and where enough participants enroll in any of these, we will begin the groups from March.
